Hey friends, so beauty influencer Aaliyah Jay tweeted last week “Stop making Women empowerment clubs when you don’t even support women and do everything to tear them down.” And the tweet following that said “You can’t be the spokesperson of a women’s empowerment group when you constantly feel intimidated and in competition with others. You girls are really something else.” Whew chileeee this tea is hot and I don’t think y’all ready for this conversation. Being a founder of my own women empowerment organization/movement what she’s saying is too real. I’ve watched other women “stand up for women empowerment” but on the side knocking the next girl down. Why is that? Where I’m from, the wonderful Broward county, competition plays a big role in this. Over here they don’t believe in coming together and supporting each other. They rather knock the person down when there’s so much Space for us to win. I’ve noticed people trying to bring awareness to women empowerment but it wasn’t coming from a sincere place. Doing/hosting women empowerment events became a trend that everyone wants to do and they sit and talk about how important women empowerment is for one hour but after all that is said and done there’s no action to back up the words. Like I said, I’ve seen so many Queens rip apart another Queen because they can’t stand the fact of that person getting on top. This isn’t women empowerment, cut it out sis. I know so many other girls who really believe in the power of women empowerment but people don’t pay them no mind because again where I’m from you gotta have clout to get recognized and the little people who do recognize them sometimes judge them because this have this ludicrous idea of what someone who represents women empowerment should look, sound and act like. It’s like we can’t really win out here. If people really valued and understood the importance of women empowerment, incredible things could happen. We have to stop with the fake supporting. You really can’t be all about women empowerment on social media but in real life you’re just a hater. Cut it out sis.
