Angry, hurt, overwhelmed, scared..... these are just a few words describing black women in America today. If you been following the news and social media you know the injustice that’s being done to my people. The most recent case that caused an uproar to my people for them to react in protests, riots, and looting is the fatal death of George Floyd who died while in the custody of Minneapolis cops. He was unarmed and not a threat but his life has been taken away by a white man in uniform. You wanna know how I feel being a black woman in America? I’m tired. Tired of seeing my people become another hashtag and getting no justice. I’m scared. Scared because I don’t think I can go anywhere anymore without getting the idea that I’m being judged or looked at as a threat because of the color of my skin. I have a black father, black brothers, black cousins, black friends I can’t help but to now live in fear wondering if they will be next. Hell, will I be next? I’m angry. Angry because this shit isn’t fair. Why is the color of my skin pop up as a threat to the white man? Are my African American brothers and sisters not human? There are so many names that we must not forget. We are in danger, history is repeating itself. Over the past years I’ve seen schools get shot up, churches get shot up, my people still getting lynched, my people still getting shot at. The list goes on and all of it has been done by the hands of a white man. We can not take it anymore. One day I will marry a black man, I will have black kids. I do not want to live in fear for them. We need justice to be done, we need these people to get what they deserve. I am a black woman in America that can not take it anymore.
